Do you think it is going to need stitches?

March 7th, 2009 by *MoonDogg*

That was the question I asked Josh, as he was inspecting my leg.

“It’s probably going to need a few, yeah” was his reply…. Yeah, right. Just a few…

Is there a worm on my leg?

Is there a worm on my leg?

We were traversing the Dragon’s Tail in Mammoth. Myself, Josh and Khristian. I suggested we go all the way to the tail, because that it my favorite part of the mountain. It usually has the deepest snow, and the least amount of traffic, because it’s not easy to get to. There is a little bit of a valley you have to get across, and Josh said he didn’t want to hike.

‘What are you talking about? I never hike. You just have to bomb it and keep up your speed.”

And bomb it I did. I was trucking, making split-second decisions on which path to take, as there were several forks. You are basically on a single-track, up, down and around trees. It’s a bit of a roller-coaster ride, with no time to stop and think about it. You just have to go, soak up the bumps make the turns, duck under tree branches, and if you are successful you can make it to the powder mother lode.

Khristian Makes The Front Page!

August 27th, 2007 by *MoonDogg*

Khristian’s photo of the lightning storm we had here in San Clemente, CA on Sunday made the front page of the local newspaper, the OC Register. Khristian has been taking lightning photos for many years, often staying out in the rain for many hours in the middle of the night. He has captured many amazing shots. While the daytime shots are not quite as spectacular as the night ones, in my opinion, it is still very exciting to see one printed in the newspaper with his name on it. I am quite proud of him. His photo takes up almost the entire page!

He also got quoted in the full article on  OCRegister.com and MSNBC.com

New Kicks

January 8th, 2006 by *MoonDogg*

Finally made a decision on wheels and tires. What an exhausting experience. So many choices and sizes. Decided on the SportMAX 962, had them powder coated 40% gloss black, and mounted Toyo Proxes S/T tires on them. Turned out better that I had hoped. Rides and handles much better, and gives it a whole new style.

New Ride

November 1st, 2005 by *MoonDogg*

After months of deliberation, and encouraging others to give it a serious consideration, I bought a Honda Element. I’ve been getting some funny reactions from people who are completely surprised that I would sell my Jeep and buy a Honda. What can I say. The Jeep was my baby, but it was not serving my needs and was a constant pain in my butt. I’ve got a few plans for the Element: Wheels, tires, system, exhaust, intake… and a few more surprises I cannot discuss due to some competition from someone else who bought one 2 days after me. I won’t mention any names

So far I really like it. There are a few things about it that are annoying, and I miss the power and luxury of my Jeep, but I’m satisfied overall and look forward to some good times in it. Check out my Honda Gallery for some pics.
